Ray Charles Robinson was born on September 23rd, 1930 and was blinded during childhood due to glaucoma. He pioneered “Soul” music during the 1950s by combining bleus, jazz. Rhythm & Blues, gospel and country into the music he recorded for “Atlantic” records and later in the 1960’s on “ABC” records. While he was with ABC, Charles became one of the first black musicians to be granted artistic control by a mainstream record company. Charles had multiple singles reach the Top 40 on various charts. Billy Joel said “This may sound like sacrilege, but I think Ray Charles was more important than Elvis Presley”. After a phenomonal career and and a massive catalogue of recorded work, Ray sadly died on June 10th, 2004. This disc is in EXCELLENT condition, worth checking the flip
